New York | Italian American Journal. The project was conceived in 2024, drawing on the experience of Fabio Castagna, creator of the TracingITALIANroots© platform, and took shape in Washington, D.C., in 2025 as a pilot initiative. Presented at the Embassy of Italy, it was officially recognized by Italy's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) as a Special Project.

For Fabio Castagna, the project gives life to a vision: a living map of Italy's heritage around the world. Through its partnership with Italea and the Roots Tourism initiative, the project aims to encourage people of Italian descent to reconnect with their ancestral hometowns by preserving and celebrating family memory.
"Italy will reach them wherever they are in the world—through technology," Castagna says. This vision is the driving force behind the initiative's international outreach.

Having already established its presence in New York, the TracingITALIANroots© network will continue expanding to Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, Chicago, Detroit, and Boston, before extending across Canada, South America, South Africa, and ultimately Australia.
