NEW YORK

The New York COMITES, in collaboration with GlobalMedia, announces the expansion of the digital map of Italian heritage in the United States to the New York area. The platform will be live online starting May 29, 2026.

Ornella Fado, Vice President of the New York COMITES and Chair of the Communication and Events Commission, leads the “tracingITALIANroots.NY©” expansion alongside Project Curator Fabio Castagna.

"Our goal is to foster a powerful synergy among institutions, associations, museums, theaters, and the media, giving concrete shape to a living, accessible, and shared map of Italian identity," stated Ornella Fado. "As Fabio Castagna emphasizes, this project goes beyond simple mapping; it breathes life into a soul—a living map of Italian heritage designed to build a shared and inclusive narrative of Italian identity in America, strengthening the bridge between both sides of the ocean. It is accessible to everyone, whispering its Italian history through voices, imagery, and augmented reality."

The media will also play a key role. Journalists are invited to actively contribute by interviewing key figures, sharing stories, and highlighting the excellence that defines Italian memory and identity in the United States. Ultimately, tracingITALIANroots© serves as a bridge between past and future, America and Italy, identity and belonging. The web app is free to access and requires no installation, only a standard internet connection.
