WASHINGTON DC

The project was founded in 2024 through the vision and international expertise of Fabio Castagna. It first took shape as a pilot project in Washington, D.C., thanks to a collaboration with Dr. Maby Palmisano, President of the Washington COMITES. Officially presented at the Embassy of Italy, the initiative was recognized as a Special Project by the MAECI (Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation), which co-funded it alongside GlobalMedia (Copyright Platform tracingITALIANroots©). It quickly established itself as a model of excellence in connecting culture, memory, and innovation.

tracingITALIANroots© is far more than a digital archive; it is a true "living map" and a timeless network built through community contributions, where individual stories become part of a collective heritage.

Furthermore, through its collaboration with Italea and the "Roots Tourism" initiative, this project does more than just preserve historical memory—it actively encourages a physical return to ancestral places of origin, promoting meaningful, heritage-driven tourism. And for those unable to travel, technology becomes a vessel for memory, ensuring that Italy comes to them.

Ultimately, tracingITALIANroots© serves as a bridge between past and future, America and Italy, identity and belonging. The web app is free to access and requires no installation—only a standard internet connection.
